Aston Villa loanee Joe Cole set to extend Coventry City stay

first_img1 Joe Cole Aston Villa outcast Joe Cole is on the verge of extending his loan spell at League One Coventry City until January 3.The 34-year-old former Liverpool and Chelsea midfielder joined Coventry last month and has made three appearances for the club so far, scoring once.And now manager Tony Mowbray has revealed that Cole is set to stay until the New Year with an  agreement with Villa now in place.“The extension is all agreed with Aston Villa,” Mowbray told the club’s official website.“He hasn’t put pen to paper yet but he’s about to. Once that’s done the loan will be until January 3rd.”Mowbray also said Cole is set for a rigourous training schedule as he bids to get back to full fitness.The manager added:  “I’m having a meeting with Joe about putting a plan together of three weeks solid training.“For Joe, it’s better for him to try and get fit and not chase the next game. It’s like a mini pre-season for him.“He’s probably been playing with the Under-21s at Villa and so we’ll put that plan together to get him to train day, after day, after day with the group and all the extra stuff to do in the gym too.“When he gets fully fit, we’ll have a footballer who is playing well below his talent level.”last_img
