first_imgHogan Signs Five for 2007-08 Share June 11, 2007PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida Men’s Basketball Head Coach Don Hogan recently announced five newcomers for the upcoming 2007-08 season. All five student-athletes signed national letters of intent.Chris Ammons is a 6-6 guard from Jacksonville, Fla. At Mandarin High School, Ammons averaged 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks per game. Ammons helped lead the Mustangs to a 2006-07 district championship and an appearance in the regional semifinal.The other four student-athletes are junior college transfers. Charles Bouie is a 6-7 forward/center from Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Bouie was an All-Southern Conference selection after averaging 12 points and 11 rebounds per game. At Pahokee High School (Fla.), Bouie averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game. He was also voted a Top 50 player in Florida as a forward and center.Ryan Henry will play for the Argonauts after transferring from Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tenn. The 6-1 guard averaged 14.3 points and four assists in his two seasons with the Raiders. In his senior year at Coconut Creek High School (Fla.), Henry earned all-state honorable mention honors after averaging 26.3 points, five rebounds and four assists per game.Josh Jackson will play his final two seasons at West Florida after transferring from Palm Beach Community College. Jackson was an All-Southern Conference honoree after averaging 13.6 points and 4.1 assists per game for the Panthers last season. The 6-0 guard was an all-state and all-region selection at West High School in Madison, Wisc. after averaging 25.3 points and 4.4 assists per game.Ken Mitchell is the second student-athlete from Alabama Southern Community College to play for Hogan. Kelly Powe played at West Florida from 2000-01. In his two years with the Eagles, Mitchell averaged 15 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.
