DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College ofMedicine (BCM) is seeking a cardiothoracic surgeon for an assistantprofessor position within the division of CardiothoracicTransplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support. We are lookingfor a candidate well-versed in procurement for heart and lungtransplantation. The ideal candidate would also have skills relatedto adult cardiac surgery for participation in extracorporealmembrane oxygenation device insertion, assisting in heart and lungtransplantations and mechanical support. Additional opportunitiesfor clinical activity are commensurate with the applicant’s levelof experience but include the following: critical care management,first assist participation with adult cardiac surgical proceduresand independent activity with supervision of related heart and lungfailure activities such as temporary support devices, ex vivoperfusion and related aspects of care. Situated in the heart of theworld’s largest medical center, the program is located at theBaylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC), which is also home to theTexas Heart Institute.Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to clinicalexcellence. They should be committed to teaching cardiothoracicsurgery residents and advanced fellows.
