For more than 200 years, Canadians have set aside the first Monday in September to honour the talent and dedication of workers who built this country and contribute to its continued greatness. “Here in Nova Scotia, we’re proud to have one of the most dependable workforces in the country,” said Environment and Labour Minister Kerry Morash. “Our people are skilled, motivated, hard working, generous and productive. Their daily efforts strengthen our economy and shape our enviable lifestyle.” On Labour Day and every day of the year, government is committed to giving Nova Scotians opportunities for success in their workplaces. “We’re always working to ensure our labour laws are fair and current, and our workplaces are safe,” said Mr. Morash. The minister encouraged all Nova Scotians to join in giving thanks this Labour Day, Sept. 5, and in taking pride in the province’s workers for all that they contribute. He also wished working Nova Scotians a peaceful, well-earned day of rest.
